On 13th September, the opening ceremony of the 2nd Tripartite Metallurgical Engineering Master's Degree Course of Huayu Cobalt Industry, Indonesia's Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment Coordination and Northeastern University was held in Northeastern University. Professor Satryo, Special Advisor of Indonesia's Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment Coordination, Dwi, Director General of Indonesia Education Foundation, Tang Lixin, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Vice President of Northeastern University, Li Qian, General Manager of Human Resource Centre of Huayou Cobalt, and other leaders from School of International Education, School of Metallurgy, Graduate School, and Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of Northeastern University were present at the ceremony.
The leaders of Indonesia's Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment Coordination and Education Foundation thanked all parties for their support to the talent joint training programme and congratulated the 27 students for passing the selection and starting a wonderful campus study life in China. They hoped that the students would live up to their potential, study hard and return to their home country in the future to become experts in their fields and contribute to the economic and social development of the country. In addition, they also hoped that the students would maintain a healthy life and study condition, understand Chinese culture, make friends and act as messengers of Sino-Indonesian friendship and cooperation.
Mr. Tang Lixin warmly welcomed the 27 Indonesian students to Northeastern University, and thanked the Indonesian government and Huayou Cobalt for their trust in Northeastern University, and the joint efforts of the three parties to make the new mode of joint cultivation of talents among the government, university and enterprise successful. He said that Northeastern University will continue to deepen the cooperation with the Indonesian government and Huayou Cobalt, explore a more efficient and innovative international talent cultivation model, actively respond to the national “Belt and Road initiative”, promote international cooperation and exchange in the field of education, and contribute to the socio-economic development of the two countries.
On behalf of the company, Li Qian attended the opening ceremony, expressed his gratitude to the governments of the two countries, the leaders and teachers of Northeastern University, and welcomed the 27 Indonesian students. He said that the successful enrolment of the second session of students is inseparable from the dedication and support of all parties. Huayou will unswervingly and continuously increase its investment in Indonesia to help build Indonesia's competitive advantage in the global new energy vehicle industry chain. Huayou has always adhered to the strategy of localisation and internationalisation of talents, and advocated the integration and development of the industry chain through the “talent chain”. In the future, Huayou will continue to work with Northeastern University to establish a close talent training partnership with Indonesia's Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment Coordination, to promote the coordinated development of industry, education and talent, and to contribute to the development of the local metallurgical industry and China-Indonesia in-depth industrial cooperation.
At the meeting, Zhang Yaowei, Secretary of the Party Committee of Metallurgy College of Northeastern University, and the representative of the current Indonesian freshmen made speeches respectively. Secretary Zhang Yaowei said that the College of Metallurgy will continue to optimise the student training programme and further strengthen the input of teaching faculty on the basis of the first student training. Angelie Santosa, the representative of the students, thanked the Indonesian government, Northeastern University and Huayou Cobalt for giving the Indonesian students a valuable opportunity to further their studies, and she would work hard to learn advanced metallurgical professional knowledge and technology during the study period, and looked forward to completing her studies and returning to Indonesia to join Huayou Cobalt.
Before the opening ceremony, a signing ceremony of scholarship donation was held between Huayou Cobalt and Northeastern University. Zhang Hao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Northeastern University, and Li Qian, General Manager of the Human Resources Centre of Huayou Cobalt, signed the agreement on behalf of the two parties, and had a discussion on university-enterprise cooperation and exchange.
During the event, Li Qian visited the College of International Education and the College of Metallurgy of Northeastern University, and held a seminar on international students' cooperation and cultivation, etc. On the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival, Li Qian went to the dormitories of the international students, and on behalf of the company, he sent the blessings of Huayou and the holiday greetings to the international students.
